All three fourth grade classes at Mitchell Elementary in Golden contributed information about Colorado forests, including samples of cones, seeds, bark, and wood, to the Colorado forest box which was sent to the United Nations to celebrate the
2011 Year of Forests. This
activity is from the Project Learning Tree PreK-8th Grade Activity Guide Book. State Forester, Jeff Jahnke, City of Golden Mayor, Jacob Smith, Golden City Forester, Dave High, and Project Learning Tree Coordinator, Shawna Crocker attended the ceremony on January 14th and received the box to send to the UN in New York City.
